Wishing We Were Well...

So it is hard to believe that our little girl is going on 4 weeks old. Time has come to a stand still...or maybe it is light speed. I don't know which. I don't feel much anymore except exhausted.

My wife was diagnosed with an internal infection from the C-section that was preformed. She is not doing super well. She seems to get a little better each day, and then slip backwards a few steps. I am worried about her. A lot actually. I am also barely able to function anymore with the lack of sleep I am getting. But, I need my wife to be well.

The baby seems to be doing okay. She is sure a cutie. Thankfully we have an amazing group of ladies here in town who have organized themselves together to bring in meals, sit with my wife all day while I am at school, and to watch the two little ones (especially thanks for mom and dad, Sister Robertson, and Sister McFarlane on this one). It has been hard to accept all this help (and humbling too). I just pray my wife can get over this!

So all of you out there send a few prayers our way. We have a long ways to go and I can only hope to make it...

When Will This End?

I realize that I have been off the air for a week. I wish I could say it was for good, positive reasons- sadly, that is not the case...

Our family is going on week two of sickness. We have been through the strep-throat, the flu, and now the overly congested. I totally lost my voice today and had to whisper yell all day. Let's just say that rather than moving forward with a lot of new material, we simply took the day and reviewed what we had already been working on. I was also informed that I would be getting a new student today. I had to bring in another table and change my room around and seating arrangement. It is all good. Just another kink in the chain of teaching.

Tomorrow morning at 5:30am I can officially call ETS and pay $30 to find out my test score early. Will I do that? Probably. I am tired of the worry of passing or not. Actually, I am just tired of college period. I have a paper due Tuesday, and then another the next week. Not feeling the best has led me to avoid doing anything that is not curled up on the couch half-alive. I hope to get it done.

Then, today after second recess, my son came to be covered in a rash from his waist up. I think he might be allergic to his amoxicillin. We aren't quite sure what to do with him. We are going to take him back to clinic tomorrow and see if he needs different medication. He is totally sleeping right now and should be finishing his monstrous president report that is due tomorrow.

Well, we need to get dinner started. I am very grateful that it is Friday tomorrow, and that our Fridays are always 1/2 days. Otherwise, I wouldn't be going to school tomorrow. I may or may not post about my score tomorrow...that is unless it is really good news :)

Sickness Lingers On...

So I came home after lunch today with a pounding headache and sharp pains behind my eyes. I also had a slight fever. Blah! Since my wife was in Price doing the monthly shopping, I curled up on our couch and basically slept. I am just now starting to feel like a human again. I was shivering so hard after dinner I had to have two quilts and my coat on to get warm.

It was hard to leave my class this afternoon. I enjoy teaching so much and don't like having to be gone.

My children made it home (thanks mom!) and we just chilled out. I slept on and off until 4:30pm and my voice lesson came. That was a fun lesson. I enjoy teaching music as well.

This evening my wife ran off to BUNKO with the "ladies" and I spent some 'dad' time with my babies. Unfortunately I was a tad grouchy being sick, but its all good.

I am glad tomorrow is Friday, that is for sure. I have so much that absolutely has to be done. That is probably what is causing my headaches and sickness. And, on that note...I best get back to writing those papers...

Being Sick Stinks!

Well, let me tell you. After surviving a 103 degree fever last night (it broke in the middle of the night about 2am. I woke up covered it sweat and ready to NOT be covered in a million blankets). It was a long night aside from that. My wife has had this horrendous cough that will NOT go away. She said that it doesn't hurt- her throat or chest- but it sounds like it does. I am hoping she will get it checked out soon if it doesn't go away. However, she will have to make that choice!

I have felt decent today. A little light headed, but basically good. I have an appetite and can get around without falling down- so I count it a victory. :)

I guess I best get back to my pretend reading and paper writing for my Master's Classes (I ordered a book today from Scholastic that I hope to read for my Praxis about how to be a good principal. Maybe it will give me good suggestions to use on the essay part of the test- lol. The minute I know I passed that test will be one of the most stress-free days of my life! (and if you know me, you know I don't have many of those!))

Wish me luck...

Two Days of Near Death (And the Close of the Kodak Saga...I Think)

Wowzers! I woke up Tuesday morning and knew that I wouldn't be going to school. I could hardly stand up, let alone teach. The poopy part was having to come up with sub plans while feeling sick. I called the clinic and asked if a PA would be in. They said yes. I told them I would call if I felt worse. I should have just scheduled an appointment. I called back around noon and told them I had to get in. The did get me in, though they weren't very excited about it. The PA told me that I most likely started with a bronchial infection and then picked up the flu on top of that. Fun stuff. She said that lots of sleep, liquids, and more sleep is what I need. I slept a good portion of yesterday.

This morning I woke up and could actually stand up. I was still light headed, but was feeling much, much better. As the day wore on my headache returned, but still felt good. Now it is after 5pm and I just returned from my classroom. My sub did a great job. My class did well too. Just a couple of kids that will need a talking too! But it is all good. I am looking forward to being back at school, mostly so I don't have to write sub plans. That is NOT a fun experience.

The Kodak Saga is drawing to a close. After a few short e-mails this morning, it appears that our new printer has been shipped (or will be soon). I was SO frustrated with Customer Service. I had scanned the box's UPC and got THIS e-mail in response:

Hi Mr. Hughes, if you can send a copy of the proof of purchase (if you found it) that would be great!

So I wrote this:

Mr.  Frazier,
So would you define Proof of Purchase? I have asked in several e-mails if you needed the receipt or a certain part of the box and all I ever get from you is "proof of purchase". If you would be clear to start with, maybe we could get this solved a lot quicker! So I assume you mean receipt from the purchase?!?!  Please let me know!
Thanks

And they wrote this:
Hi John, my apologies to you, yes the receipt  from the purchase of your ESP3 printer. Hope this helps!

Finally. They defined Proof of Purchase! I only asked in at least FIVE, yes FIVE e-mails exactly what they needed. But aside from that, it appears that Kodak is working to make amends in this case. Now, what they did for Mrs. E??? Not so much. But that is a different story and a different post. At this point, Kodak moves up from a 0 to a solid 2 out of 10. If and when the printer arrives AND it actually works, I will re-evaluate them and possibly remove them from "the LIST"! lol Interesting stuff this is!

Well, it is time for dinner.

Sick Anyone?

Wow, last night just kept getting better and better. The boys got hungry so we ordered a pizza and I went and picked it up. My 4 year old had had a fever off and on all day. I found that to be interesting. We ate dinner, and my son got a little snugly. I kept asking if he was okay. He would say yes each time. Well, I feel asleep while the boys were watching cartoons. My 4 year old was still on my lap. I woke up to find him sitting straight up. I tried so hard to get the garbage can in front of him, but I didn't make it. I spent the next 20 minutes cleaning up the mess. That lead to some frustration (in fact I am STILL working to get the smell out of the carpet- YUCK!). I got him all cleaned up and tucked up and I went to bed (it was only 10am by this time). I woke up to "Dad, I think M leaked." Sure enough, my 2 year-old had leaked all over my bed. I changed his diaper and we both went back to sleep, woke up again 2 hours later and found that he had leaked AGAIN! Figured at that point it was time to just get up for the day. I ended up washing all the bedding (Go me!). We had breakfast, I worked on the smelly carpet some more, and we have walked to the post office.

Now, we are just hanging out and watching Sponge Bob Square Pants. LOL- I am not sure what else we will accomplish today. I have math tests to correct, planning for next week to do, and various other garbage. Hopefully I get the motivation before Monday, if not, oh well!

The Wait is Over!

Wow! I can't believe that it has been so many days since I last posted! Man, Time just sneaks up on me. So, sorry about the delay.

Life has been a whirl-wind. I think I last posted on Saturday. (Crazy!) Sunday came and went. For more on that, check out http://ldspointofview.blogspot.com/. Monday was a great day. I had to be up by 5:30am so I could carpool to our district offices 90 minutes away for opening institute (teacher pep rally, basically). Headed home around 1pm and went and helped a member of my church clean his house as a surprise for his wife's b-day. So I did that until 3:30 when I had to run to the school for our first faculty meeting, and then back to my friend's house to help finish cleaning. (My wife and kids came back with me- my wife made the cheese cake). We had to leave around 7:30 to come home and do FHE and do father's blessings for school. I also had some pre-first day school things to get ready. Was able to be in bed by 11:00pm. Pretty early considering the last few weeks bed time.

I was up early this morning and at school by 7am. I was lucky enough to get two new students today. So I now have 24 students. AHH! My room isn't designed to hold that many students. I had a great day. I have a good class and we had a lot of fun doing some team building activities and games. My oldest had a great first day as well in 3rd grade. He is such a great boy.

After school I was able to relax and plan for tomorrow, come home and mow my lawn and water the garden (thanks honey for helping with the watering), and then during dinner I received a call from the 2nd grade teacher asking for help moving some furniture. I stopped by and picked up the high school science teacher (who happens to be a good friend) and we spent about an hours moving a washer, dryer, fridge, oven, and sink back into place. She wanted to pay us, silly lady! I did because it is the right thing to do. Got home to find our dishwasher had leaked water EVERYWHERE! So no dishwasher for a while. I think it needs a new seal. So I will looking in to that. All the kids have runny noses, and the baby is teething so he is sick with horrible congestion and high fever. Fun stuff at night when he only sleeps for 40-90 minutes at a time. But that is okay. I can't believe that the timer has counted all the way to zero! Crazy stuff.
Well, since it is late again, I am off to bed- More tomorrow! Peace!

P.S. My dad's knee surgery went really well. They are expecting to be home by Friday. YEA!

Mission Accomplished!

Yea Readers, Give a loud Hooray!
I finished both of my freelance units for the MailBox. My sister is truly a life saver. She arrived and less than 4 hours later the assignments were sketched out in rough form and ready to be created in final version. If you wanting to see the finished pages, you can subscribe to the Teacher's Helper magazine. They will be out this fall.

The other news of the day is that I woke up this morning to the room spinning and feeling very queasy. I looked drunk as I made my way to the bathroom. And just so you know, I have never had a drink in my life! So it wasn't hangover or drunkeness. I have spent most of today trying not to really move. I am feeling a lot better however and hope that tomorrow is a MUCH beter day. I have alot to do at chruch.

I as also SO thankful that we are not going to have to head up North tomorrow. CORE doesn't start until Tuesday this week and I am thankful. I am also thankful that it is that last week. I don't know how much longer I would be able to last.

I know that these posts aren't earth shattering, they just are what the are: My life. Hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing. I have tried to network through different sites and I am starting to realize that too many "bloggers" are into giving advice about blogs that they really have no authority to give, and trying to persuade people to visit their blog hoping for ad clicks and other such "dreams". I think that I am going to just be satisfied sharing my life with anyone who happens upon the site and my close friends and family!

Feel free to be apart of this growing blog by subscribing or not- you have the power!
