Golden Ratio

So, somehow our little town became the recipient of this interesting sculpture. It is titled the Golden Ratio and is created using the Fibonacci Sequence (1, 1+1=2, 1+2=3. 2+3=5, etc.). It was designed by world renowned Australian artist Andrew Rogers. His website is HERE. It doesn't talk about our sculpture yet, but he has done some interesting artwork. As you can see from the picture with my 10-year old son hanging on the edge it is very large ( I have heard it is 4 stories tall). It has a sister sculpture in Jerusalem (click HERE to see that one). It is pretty amazing.

I have to admit that I didn't know much about it until today, and I wasn't that impressed with it until yesterday when my mom and dad took the herd up to it and look at it. It was too windy then to do much, so we went back today. I still think it is odd, but I think that it is cool to have something to draw people to our community. It is easy to see, but definitely NOT an easy to find sculpture. But, it is worth driving up too! Until you see it in person and stand next to it, you really don't appreciate the majesty it has to offer! It looks so plain standing on a barren hill overlooking the town, but when you are up there, you get an amazing view of the area, and looking up the sculpture makes you realize that you are in the presence of something pretty special!

If you are ever in the area and want a tour, let me know! I will show the way, or give you easy to follow directions!

  3. Teachinfourth: We are definitely not short of things to do and see around us! We are pretty central to all the major attractions in the South-East corner of the state! :)
