Greetings Share the Wealth Friends!
I am loving that it is Fall. The smell of wood stoves, the crisp CRUNCH of leaves under foot, the smell of pumpkin pie and apple tarts, and the chill in the air that refreshes the lungs and helps you snuggle up to the one you love... sigh. Bliss.
With Fall comes the great change of the seasons and an opportunity to try new things. Maybe you will try a new recipe at home or watch a movie you haven't been sure of. Or, maybe you will be inspired to try a new activity with your students or children. If it is the later, you are at the right place.
I am pleased to bring to you a fantastic teacher-author in this edition of the Teacher-Author Spotlight.
I would like to introduce you to Andrea M. Bentley from Cairo, Georgia.
This is what Andrea has to say about herself:
"I have over ten years in education. I have spent years teaching at the middle grades level as well as at the high school level. I love creating fun lessons that my students will enjoy. I currently teach 7th and 8th grades at a rural PreK-8 school in Georgia. We make our students our priority, and the school is much like a huge, extended family. I have experience working with preschool children at church, and I have created numerous materials to use with my daughter for her class. When I am not teaching and creating new lessons, I like to spend time with my family, read any book I can get my hands on, run, and go to the beach."
Andrea has created many fun and exciting resources for every subject! This is a one-stop shopping experience. Not only can you get language arts activities, but you can throw a few math, holiday, and social studies activities in your cart as well! I have listed a few you may want to check out here (don't miss the freebies mixed in there!):

I have spent quite a bit of time looking over these resources, and I can honestly say that these are quality products that will NOT disappoint you! In fact, Andrea's 4.0/4.0 feedback rating speaks for itself!
But don't just take my word for it, here is what teachers are saying about Andrea and her products:

I love how this is bundled together for a great price! The PPT is great! The handouts help provide the reinforcement needed. The students are going to love the activity for practicing this skill. Thank you for another great product!

I love this! Will be a great center for my 4th graders where they will review the types of nouns we've been working on this week. THANK YOU!
Alveda Zahn
You are a lifesaver! Thank you for putting this together.
Her feedback speaks for itself. AMAZING!
Of course, it wouldn't be a teacher-author spotlight without reviewing a resource from this amazing teacher-author.
The item I would like to review for you this evening is Andrea's Direct and Indirect Objects PowerPoint, handouts, and activity.
Okay, before you even GET to this view (the packet and resource packet) you get to share a really well created PowerPoint presentation with your students. Here are a few screen shots from the 13 slide presentation (which by the way, comes both with transition animation and non-animated versions- totally thoughtful teacher-author here!)
After you have presented the lesson from the PowerPoint (don't have PPT? No worries, you can print it as a PDF and use your document camera!) You get to move on to the HANDS-ON portion of the lesson!
This part is found in the Activity Packet.
Don't let this cover fool you. It may not be flashy, but it's just a cover!
Inside you will find yourself looking at activities like this one- where you take this sheet, laminate it, and cut it out. The pieces are then put in an envelope and used with various activities as outlined in the directions.
The students are given the sentence pieces and sets of arrows like those pictured below in a big envelope.
The kids use the pieces to order the sentence so it makes sense and then they use the arrows to name the parts of speech.
I absolutely LOVE that these are hands-on. When students can DO with their hands and then write it down, they get a better opportunity to keep the information locked in their heads!
There are four sentences so students can repeat the activity several times without doing the same sentence. You could even do a center style rotation OR, I just thought of this, students could race each other to see who can create and label the sentence correctly first!
After the hands-on practice, students are given a worksheet style assignment to check their understanding.
I LOVE all the amazing resources here!
Then, like all good teaching materials, there is an assessment piece. But this unit comes with an entire packet devoted to helping you ensure learning. Quizzes, handouts, and activities.
This resource currently has a 4.0/4.0 rating and only costs $5.00! HOLY MOLEY! Five dollars (less than a large soda and a doughnut) will get you a hands-on interactive unit that your students will LOVE!
I know that I am really excited to use it with my classes!
As you can see, this is a language arts lesson that will only make your life easier! Head on over to Andrea's store and check out all her amazing and truly useful resources. You won't be sorry you took the time.
You can also find Andrea on Pintrest and on her Blog. Check out these sites for even more great ideas from this fabulous teacher-author! Don't hesitate- click on over NOW!
Cheers!
