THE BIGGEST SUCCESS EVER! The kids did SO wonderful tonight, I couldn't be MORE proud. It was a bit sketchy at first as someone had gone to the sound room during the school day and messed up the sound board (which really stinks because the school had just paid to have a professional come and fix it and reset the levels) so when the kids started, their mics were WAY TOO LOUD and the feedback was out of control. I couldn't believe it. I had to run off the stage (I was sitting at the piano turning pages for the piano player) and up to the sound booth to help get the problem fixed. We did and the rest of the show went off without a hitch. The kids preformed SO well, I couldn't be more proud. Tomorrow is closing night. I am thankful for only 2 performances this year. It has always seemed silly to me to work for so long to do 2 shows and then be done. It seems like such a HUGE amount of work, for two 45 minute shows. But it was/is worth it, and I am always thankful to find a way to work with the youth. They can drive a person to drink, but at the same time you gotta love their spunk and hard work.
School on the other hand, went okay. I tired SO very hard today to make it a great day. I let go of issues that I can address on Monday regarding behavior, and tried to make the day engaging and interactive.
I am going to start morning meeting again on Monday. I think that it was really helping my class to spend those few minutes together each day. The kids need to compromise with me. I will try to be less anal about absolute silence during that time if they will work harder to do their best. We'll see how that works out. I am so frustrated with the school tech. We was supposed to install my new projector on Thursday, but couldn't because he had another district worker with him and they had to install items at the high school. I understand, but it doesn't make me less frustrated! :( Now he is on vacation, so I have to wait until for 2 weeks to get it out up. I guess it's okay. The kids said, "We have lived with it like that so this long, we can live with it for another 2 weeks." Bless their little hearts! Anyways, I sent off a book order today. I got lots of orders. That was great. I appreciate that about this year's class- They love books! I am even planned and ready to go for Monday.
Thanks for reading my ramblings!
Later...
Yay for them loving books - you will do fine and things will get back to normal eventually - probably after the holidays. See you in class and glad everything went well after the initial sound thing - E :)
