Holiday Greetings My Dear Friends,
I hope that this post finds you all happy, well, and ready for a wonderful holiday break. I know that as today was my last day until January 2nd, I am feeling that giddy and anxious feeling I always get around Christmas time. My kids are also gearing up. A family friend, my wife, and I spent a good deal of time today wrapping my children's gifts. So glad that part is done!
Well, enough about me and my holiday ramblings. Let's meet a fabulous teacher-author. I would like to introduce you to Ann Fausnight, the owner of Devoted to Vocabulary Development. Here is what Ann shared with me:
"I am enjoying my 35th year of teaching. This group is my 30th group of third graders. And they are amazing. Third grade makes me think of Goldilocks. The older kids didn't need me enough. The younger kids needed me too much. But third graders were just right! I still love it. I don't even think of retiring!
My favorite part of being a teacher is bringing new ideas to the team and creating products for those new ideas. I have never been one to decide I have found "THE" best way to teach something. I always feel the need to check out the newest approach and make it my own in some way."
As you can see from her Bio, Ann is a very experienced and amazing teacher. Even better is that her resources reflect all her knowledge and excitement earned over the past many years of teaching!
In fact, here are 10 FANTASTIC resource (a couple of FREEBIES are included) for your browsing pleasure.

I hope you really took the time to browse a few of these hand-picked quality resources! After all, Ann's 4.0/4.0 rating truly speaks for itself (and that is with over 200 buyers leaving feedback)!
Don't take my word for it, however! Here a just a few comments from teachers who have purchased her products:

I am two weeks away from Christmas and we are working on homophones this week. When I saw this I thought "what a creative and great way to tie homophones into this festive time of year" Can't wait to use these with my class.

My class can't wait for the word of the day - every time somebody says it at any time during the day, somebody rings a bell. These are greatly increasing our vocal!!!

From just this small sampling, you can easily see why Devoted to Vocabulary Development is quickly becoming a favorite stop for buyers!
And NOW, for the Product Review. This is my favorite part as I get to give you a sample of this teacher-author's work and share my thoughts on it.
Today, I will be reviewing Vocabulary Development Strategies Set which currently sells for $5.00. This set has over 30 pages of activities, resources, worksheets, and more to help you help your students build their vocabulary!
Here is a listing of everything you will get in this set! You can see that there are 14 different activities/lessons with matching worksheets/student pages.
As I reviewed this set, this activity stands out as one of my favorites. Students rate their knowledge about a word that you use. Since these activities are meant to help teach YOUR vocabulary words, they are super flexible and will fit any of your lessons!
One other activity I want to share before I sign off from this posting, is this fabulous game! Students are presented with three words and must determine what they have in common! An answer key is provided for the students/teacher to use as needed. What a clever and creative game to help kids practice vocabulary words. Want to know something just as awesome? Ann included a set of masters so you can create your own cards for the game as well. WAHOO!
Don't forget you can find Ann on Teachers Pay Teachers, The Teacher's Notebook, Pinterest, her Blog, and Facebook. Go ahead, click on over and learn more about this amazing teacher-author!
Cheers-
