Only Two More Hours...

It's kind of funny that when you start out on the adventure in August, it seems that May will never arrive. Now, with only 2 hours of school tomorrow, I am very sad! This has been a FANTASTIC YEAR! Tuesday I had a 6th Grade Celebration. It was great. Parents brought food, I provided the meat (hot dogs and hamburgers) and we had a great BBQ (Thanks again parent helpers- you totally made that work out perfectly!). Then I gave out awards to many of my students for their hard work and skills. Then we ended the night by watching a hour long video of memories from the past year along with 4 short movies that student groups had made. It was great night.
Today was field day at the high school. We take all the elementary kids to the high school for field day to use their track. It was great time. As you can see in the video below (I had one of my students shoot the video- listen to their comments- they are hilarious!) I took on the 5th grade teacher in the obstacle course! It was a close call. I only won by like 1.111 seconds. Our times were something like 31.111 and 32.222. Anyways, it was fun to hear the students cheering for their teacher! It made me feel good- and they all wanted high fives, etc. That made me feel really good!

Did you like my slip and fall at the cinderblock? I hurt my ankle pretty good unfortunately. But, it was worth it! The rest of the day was spent finishing up art project for the local museum art show and listening as I read aloud to the students before heading into the gym for a movie and treat. I also went and talk to next year's 6th grade and explained the read challenge to them. Most were very excited to try it out! YEA! I hope that it works!

After school I was able to disassemble my classroom a little to give myself a head start for tomorrow. I don't want to be at school for forever since my son has a little league game tomorrow night. Beside that I got my three college texts today and I need to get those read and under my belt. Those classes won't be overly hard, just VERY time consuming.

Well, it is late and I would like to visit with my wife today. We have been busy since school got out watering the yard and going to the high school graduation. I also just spent an hour downloading all the articles I need to read for one of my classes this summer. Yucky! Well, I have updated my classwiki (if you are looking for a fun way to use your school's computer lab through the summer check out our wiki for ideas- www.bcesummer.wikispaces.com).
I guess I best be off. I hope you enjoyed the video of me being a silly 6th grade teacher!

Can You Get On?

Dear readers, it seems that my blog is having melt down. If you use IE (Internet Explorer), you are most likely getting a message about IE can't load the website. If you use Mozilla Firefox it works fine. I don't know what is causing the problem. But I hope to figure that out soon. Please stay tuned for more updates.

Had my first session of my second class today. It should be good. I am excited to go through these classes and learn about leadership. I also got my first assignment back from the 1st class. I had positive comments on it. That makes me happy. Now, after 10:30 tomorrow (when school lets out for the summer) I can get down to serious reading and studying. (I was able to move most of my classroom in to the hall so I can get new carpet- that has been quite the adventure. I hate seeing all my classroom "junk" stacked in the hallway for everyone to see. It's embarrassing.

Oh well. I better go. It's late again and I have to still figure out a few awards to give out tomorrow.

Later...
