Alien Parents and Other Strange Posts

Okay, This one is too great not too share. My friend teaches in another part of the state. She related this experience on her blog:

"Well, the first FULL week of school is over. It went well, although I still feel a little lost in third grade. Thursday was a crazy day because I taught all day and in between lessons and activities I tried to put Back-to-School Night things together...everything was fine with that. It was at 3:10 that I got really BUGGED! A parent showed up at my door. I asked him if I could help him and he said he was just "listening and waiting" for his daughter. I told him it was fine if she went with him now and he said, "No, that's okay but I want to tell your class a story." Before I could even respond, he had pulled up a chair and the kids went to him like he was some sort of super magnet. He preceded to tell them a story of how he had an alien encounter when he was younger and that there is a book and a movie coming out all about it. He told the kids a website to look up and swore up and down to them that it was TRUE!"

And this was a random and strange post as well:

Today I bring you a pop hit by The Proclaimers; I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) from their album, Sunshine On Leith (1988).
When I wake up, well I know I’m gonna be,I’m gonna be the man who wakes up next to youWhen I go out, yeah I know I’m gonna beI’m gonna be the man who goes along with youIf I get drunk, well I know I’m gonna beI’m gonna be the man who gets drunk next to youAnd if I haver, hey I know I’m gonna beI’m gonna be the man who’s havering to you
But I would walk 500 milesAnd I would walk 500 moreJust to be the man who walked a thousand miles...

I could share more odd posts, but I think that is enough for one night. I am thankful that tomorrow is Labor Day. I need a day to do things I would like to do. I am planning to wash and clean the car, tutor, mow my parents lawn, finish working at the school on my planning, and blog.
I would also like to finish my book (I am currently reading OutCast from the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness Series- Very Good). A big wish list to get done, but done it can be! My sister-in-law is coming tomorrow to spend some time with my wife as well. Cool! I am excited. It is always nice to have her and her family here.

Well, off to the next blog,
Later...

  1. I have enjoyed catching up on your blog this morning. I am supposed to be writing sub plans, but reading was so much more fun. I am so impressed with how much you love teaching and love your family. You and your wife are such hard working and amazing people. We are so lucky to have you as friends. It is pouring rain outside right now and so it was nice to sit and read and catch up on how things are going. Thanks for the phone call last night too. It is always good to hear you laugh and tell me that things are funny (it reminds me not to take life to seriously). Keep up the good work. We love to read your blog!
