It Went Great...

We had our school program tonight. I think that it went REALLY well. My students did SO well! I am very proud of them. They are sure chatty. You can tell that summer is in the air. Everyone is very ready for it.

I would like to share a pet peeve of mine. I truly dislike it VERY much when a student says to me, "I am going to be gone tomorrow. Will I be missing anything?" I mean come on. "Will I be missing anything?" No, of course not. We will just sit and twiddle our thumbs until you return, thus allowing us to move on in our learning- OF COURSE YOU ARE GOING TO BE MISSING STUFF! Worse yet, "Will be doing anything important tomorrow?"- WOW! Nope, we don't ever do anything important. Just sit and be bored all day (which is a choice). Okay, I feel better now. Well, not really, but we can pretend.

I also have to confess that the whole "stay positive" thing isn't going so well. I really try. I takes a lot of effort to stay calm and positive when the students look at you and then resume what they were doing without even so much as a little respect and attention. I know that somehow, somewhere I am promoting this attitude that the kids keep throwing back in my face- I'm just not sure where. I do try to be the role model of the behavior I want. Today we worked on whispering. I tell you what, the understanding of what whispering is and how to do it is non-existent with a majority of today's youth. They think they are whispering if they aren't yelling. It was interesting. It wore me out trying to keep them quiet. So, back to the drawing board again. Something will work. I guess May 22nd may have to be the answer. (It's the last day of school!)

I got an e-mail from another teacher today asking my to review a product she has created. From the little I have looked at it, it looks neat. be looking for the review on the product soon. I was honored to be asked to review someones product. How exciting!
