Today was field day at the high school. We take all the elementary kids to the high school for field day to use their track. It was great time. As you can see in the video below (I had one of my students shoot the video- listen to their comments- they are hilarious!) I took on the 5th grade teacher in the obstacle course! It was a close call. I only won by like 1.111 seconds. Our times were something like 31.111 and 32.222. Anyways, it was fun to hear the students cheering for their teacher! It made me feel good- and they all wanted high fives, etc. That made me feel really good!
Did you like my slip and fall at the cinderblock? I hurt my ankle pretty good unfortunately. But, it was worth it! The rest of the day was spent finishing up art project for the local museum art show and listening as I read aloud to the students before heading into the gym for a movie and treat. I also went and talk to next year's 6th grade and explained the read challenge to them. Most were very excited to try it out! YEA! I hope that it works!
After school I was able to disassemble my classroom a little to give myself a head start for tomorrow. I don't want to be at school for forever since my son has a little league game tomorrow night. Beside that I got my three college texts today and I need to get those read and under my belt. Those classes won't be overly hard, just VERY time consuming.
Well, it is late and I would like to visit with my wife today. We have been busy since school got out watering the yard and going to the high school graduation. I also just spent an hour downloading all the articles I need to read for one of my classes this summer. Yucky! Well, I have updated my classwiki (if you are looking for a fun way to use your school's computer lab through the summer check out our wiki for ideas- www.bcesummer.wikispaces.com).
I guess I best be off. I hope you enjoyed the video of me being a silly 6th grade teacher!
Later...
And you forgot to mention that Wednesday the kids called me and almost had me in tears. It's been a great year and I will miss ya'll over the summer (of course you and I will chat as we can online). Looking forward to the new class coming in in the fall. Embrace the hours because before you know it - those kids will be grown and you'll be teaching their kids (maybe if you stay there and keep teaching for another 20 years - lol) - Thanks for a wonderful year this year - Mrs. E :) -
