Spiders and Webs

I am SO NOT a fan of spiders- Period! However, this smart little fella decided to spin a web in a great location- right in front of our solar light that shines on our American flag. I have to give the guy props! Very ingenious. These pictures are from last night AND tonight! (I will have you know that I sacrificed my body to get these as the mosquitos attacked by the droves both last night AND tonight! wow! I think that the pictures turned out really, really nice and I am proud of them. Enjoy!

I love how you can see the web. I think that it is one of the most amazing things to see. I can't begin to imagine the determination and time it must take to spin such a thing!

This is a close-up of the amazing spinner! It isn't really all that big (maybe 3/4 inch long).

I like how the solar light catches the web and makes it shiny!

Again, and for the record, I am not a spider lover, but I do think their webs are amazing and fun to look at!

  2. I'm pretty sure that I, personally, after taking these pictures would have promptly squished that ugly bugger! Props to you for being brave enough to get that close! Ugh! I sure don't like spiders! ;)

  3. John...that looks like a catface spider...I love them...they are fun to watch and they spin the most incredible webs which you have captured beautifully!!I have one or two on my porch every summer! It won't hurt you and they LOVE to eat mosquitos! If you haven't taken it out of the world yet, don't! It will do it's best to eat the bugs that bug you...even small grasshoppers that get in it's web! Love You!!

  4. I don't like spiders either. But that is pretty wild how he spun right in the light area. Is he really a white spider or was that because of the lighting when you took the pictures? Awesome deal. And cool stuff from the family reunion posted on Allisha's blog - love the kids having fun - chat soon - Mrs. E :)
