It's All About the Kids!

Today was one of the most enjoyable days I have had in several weeks. Last night was family late night and we stayed up for quite a long time. Around midnight, we finally called it quits (okay, so the 3 youngest were OUT, but my oldest was being a Nintendo DS playin' fool. I was hoping for a great sleep in day, but the baby is on a early schedule that doesn't include Saturdays. It was okay though. I got to sleep in for an hour longer than other days.

While we were sitting at the breakfast table, my wife and I asked the kids what they wanted to do today. My oldest yelled out, "EAT OUT!". I suggested that maybe we could do a picnic instead. It was quickly agreed that we would head out to the cold water geyser near town for an afternoon of hiking, playing, and visiting. I invited my parents along. I am glad they came. For a February day, it was nice and warm (the wind made it a bit chilly!) and the kids had a blast.

We ate lunch as soon as we arrived. It was a finger food fest. Thanks to my wife and mom we had plenty to chow on. After the kids ate all the could (or would with that many things to do waiting for them) we all headed down to the river. Mom and dad did a little panning for gold while the kids entertained themselves with throwing rocks into the river. Even the baby thought that was great fun.

While we were there, the water started churning and frothing, but no eruption. My father was secretly hoping it would go off. He has lived here for over 30 years and has never seen it erupt. Someday, dad. I hope someday.

I hope that we can do this again really soon. I feel refreshed and ready to face another day!

  2. Sounds like a really great day. Cherish the moments since they are only young once and there will never be another day exactly like this in their whole life.

See you in the postings - E ;)

  3. Sounds like you had a good time! It is so nice to have grandparents so close isn't it? I wish we could see my dad more too. I bet the weather is a lot nicer than it is here!!
