Announcing Our New Baby Girl

Hey World,
Lets greet a new little bundle of joy! My wife and I are please to announce the arrival of our sixth child, and second girl:
Lindey Lucille Hughes
Ms. Lindey was born on April 25, 2011. She currently weighs 7 lbs. 9.5 oz. and is 20 inches long. We must admit she has a very commanding attitude. She came to earth on HER time frame, not the one was had planned. Not only that, but she came in a way that we will all remember for a long, long time!

Our adventure started on Sunday night when my wife started having contractions about every 10 minutes. She called her doctor and he recommended that we come the 60 miles to the hospital and have her checked out. So, we did. Thanks to my amazing parents who came at almost 10pm to watch the kids while we ran around getting clothes and other items packed for the trip. After all, we figured that with how quickly my wife usually gives birth, we would be home by Tuesday evening. We headed out and made it to the hospital just after 11:30pm.

They checked my wife and found that she was only at a 3-4. They wouldn't admit her, but kept her on out patient and said they would monitor her for the next 4-5 hours. If there was no change then they would discharge her and she would leave. Well, she didn't progress very far or fast. at the end of the 5 hour observation period she was barely at a 5. Her doctor came and broke her water to help move things along. We didn't really think anything of it knowing that this would surely speed up the process. My wife decided she would go natural on this birth and skip the epidermal. What a brave toaster she is. The nurse even gave her some pit to try and help her move along more quickly.

Fast Forward 8 hours. STILL no change. Then the nurse made a discovery. Our baby had her ear in the birth canal. Well, her ear and her shoulder. The doctor opted to wait for a while longer to see if she would right herself. Well, she didn't. So then the doctor suggested she get an epidermal and then he would try to turn the baby. We did that as well...AND after 45 minutes of trying to turn her, our doctor finally told us that he didn't really want to do it, but that he felt a c-section was only safe way left to get our baby here.

SO...that is what we did. I was able to go in with her and I had to put on some awesome blue scrubs.
Well, after about 30 minutes from the mention of the word c-section, my wife had seen her new baby girl and was being closed up.

Our precious little girl, Lindey, is a healthy and beautiful little girl. I was able to follow the nurse back to the nursery and help take care of our little girl. I even got to give her her first bath.

I even got to dress her for the first time. What a great experience that was. We finally had our little one here even if it was and is quite the adventure we are having. My sister and her daughter and my wife's mother were here during the delivery. They got to see her. Grandma Millett got to hold her and she brought her a lot of new gifts. Aunt Shlisa also was here to visit last night and this morning. She was a big help yesterday with helping my wife get her epidermal. I almost pass out on those so I have to leave the room. Shlisa stayed with my wife for support and help. (Thanks so much, Shlisa)!

My parents brought our three oldest chidren from town to see the baby. What a sweet experience that was.

and grandma and grandpa Hughes got to hold her as well.

All in all, it has been a wonderful and fulfilling experience. Now we just need to get my wife healed and our baby home. Time will take care of those things...

Welcome to the world and our little corner of it Lindey, We Love You!

Later...
